About My Clients
Do you find yourself in a constant state of ‘doing’ in order to stay regulated and out of your own head? Are you trying to care less about what others think of you? I work best with individuals who refer to themselves as “over-thinkers” and are looking for new ways to manage the stress of day-to-day life. Contact me for a free consultation if you’d like to talk more about the nagging feeling of being disconnected from others, or breaking free from your inner crititic.
My Background and Approach
I have had wonderful mentors, teachers, and training opportunities that inform my use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, art therapy, attachment theory, mindfulness, and other trauma-informed and body-based modalities that I weave into my approach. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California (#92094) and in North Carolina (#2212) and a board certified art therapist (ATR-BC). I offer therapy services for adults and mature adolescents through a secure, HIPAA compliant video platform. We can also hold sessions via phone if you feel more comfortable that way. I can help you examine the thoughts and beliefs that are getting in the way of moving towards what it most important to you. I’m here to help you live your best life, free from perfectionism and other self-imposed limitations.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’ve lived and worked in several areas throughout the east and west coasts before settling in San Francisco. Growing up, I was always trying to figure out how I fit in to the confusing and often chaotic world around me. My own experience with complex PTSD was a driving force in exploring ways to stay present in my body and in each moment, mostly through physical activity and movement. I'm an athlete and I’ve been making art since I cracked open my first plastic tray of watercolor paint. I studied fine art, film, and animation before I became a therapist. Your experience will undoubtedly be different than mine but I’ve been through it, and I get it. I won’t try to talk you out of challenging yourself, making moves towards the career you really want, or starting to date again after a difficult loss. When you’re ready, I can help you focus on building your inner resources so that you can step in to the strongest version of yourself.
