About My Clients

Most people who come to me are anxious, lonely, perfectionistic, highly-sensitive and self-deprecating. They feel uncomfortable and afraid of strong emotions, and they want to control them. But burying the hard stuff may lead to: anxiety, depression, relationship disputes, anger outbursts, insomnia, dissociation, chronic pain and illness. With my support, clients learn to tolerate painful emotions and become more conscious and in control of the patterns that keep them dissatisfied in life.

My Background and Approach

I specialize in supporting clients through anxiety, depression, Complex-PTSD, life transitions, relationship conflicts, perinatal stress and mood disorders, complicated grief, and distress related to culture, politics, religion, Covid, and current events. Our work together will be centered around these essential values: compassion, collaboration, creativity, cultural sensitivity, and direct communication. I am an analytical thinker, but I focus on building trust and safety in my clinical relationships so we can dig into the feelings that drive you. I believe growth and change can occur gradually and gently, but nonetheless powerfully when you can talk freely about your past and present experiences. I respect that therapy is vulnerable, so I don’t rush things. I will not attempt to give you “quick fixes.” My approach is to help you understand your core beliefs so you can have more choice and control in how you interact, behave, and manage stress.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe therapy should be collaborative. I don't lead; I listen and we'll use our therapeutic relationship to examine your unconscious habits. if I get something wrong, help me understand you. The more I understand you, the more you can be authentic and access your deepest engrained patterns and pain. It’s from that place that you can heal. I also want to learn from you and grow as a professional. In that vein, I attend weekly supervision in addition to group consultation and my own therapy. I regularly attend trainings and find it useful to think dynamically about psychological issues in order to serve the unique and dynamic needs of my clients. I frequently engage in anti-racism dialog and challenge myself to get out of the comfort zone to better confront oppression, discrimination, and the patriarchy. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, body positive, trauma sensitive, culturally sensitive, sex-positive, and mindful of everyone’s varying abilities.
