anx·i·e·ty (/aNGˈzīədē/) noun: "a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome." Everyone feels anxious at times, but when the feelings become TOO big, when the unease is no longer manageable and begins to permeate your every day life that anxiety becomes an issue. It can feel physical: anxiety can manifest in headaches, heart-racing, shortness of breath, low energy, easily distracted. Let's sort it out together.

Narrative therapy is a non-pathologizing (see above: "you are not broken"), empowering (you CAN do this), and collaborative (you don't have to go it alone) approach that recognizes that you have skills and expertise that can help you make changes in your life. Narrative therapy strives to help separate YOU from your problems, to see problems as *outside of* not *part of* yourself. By doing this together, we can address issues in a more productive way.

Complicated grief/loss: Unresolved grief/loss: Anticipatory grief/loss:

How do you deal with the loss of something you'd hoped for? Perhaps you are caring for a dying family member: you may be experiencing grief ahead of time - "anticipating" the loss of your person - and it may look like rage or depression. Perhaps you just got news that your estranged parent is remarrying and now you are confronted with the pain of *all that* unresolved grief and loss. Job loss, divorce, illness...grief accompanies many struggles. We'll look at it together.

Many consider anxiety to be a stand-alone diagnosis. From a neurodivergence perspective, anxiety is seen as a symptom of the daily struggle to live in a neurotypical world. We can address these in our sessions: SENSORY issues such as overstimulation, noise, "peopling," and environmental stressors; MASKING and living authentically in relationship with yourself and others; ADULTING, aka executive functioning struggles (organization, calendars, bills, juggling school and work, etc).

ACT is a form of psychotherapy that aims to increase psychological flexibility, with a focus on accepting difficult thoughts and feelings rather than trying to control or eliminate them. Using mindfulness, acceptance, and commitment to valued actions, enabling you to live a meaningful life despite challenging circumstances.

I am a late-diagnosed AuDHDer, and most of my clients are also neurodivergent. I have walked many through the complex feelings (e.g. relief, frustration, anger) around a new diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD, or how to go about getting assessed. I do not prescribe or oversee medication but can provide referrals and resources for next steps.
