About My Clients
I work from a trauma-informed approach. Together we will explore how marginalization, oppression, trauma, discrimination, stigma, and/or cultural/familial messages have influenced your relationship with others and with yourself. We will face the gaslighting effects society perpetrates when you’re told your feelings are invalid or are “bad”. We will normalize your experiences and validate your truth so as to cultivate your healing in the way that looks and feels right for you.
My Background and Approach
My desire to be a counselor is rooted in two main components: the desire to be of service to others and the pursuit in understanding the complexities of the human experience. My counseling lens is rooted in a multicultural, feminist, liberation, and social justice framework that empowers clients to detangle their personal narratives from the societal forces of oppression and marginalization. As a woman of color and as an immigrant, I am intimately familiar with what it means to hold the impacts of minority stress. As a result of my own journey, I have come to believe that clients are not the problem. The problem is the problem. Therapy is a powerful avenue towards developing a stronger body-based approach to release the negative energy generated by stress and trauma. I am passionate about meeting you where you at on your journey of self-discovery and healing. We will work collaboratively to address whatever brings you to therapy at this moment in time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my free time I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, rock climbing, singing (mostly badly), dancing (again, mostly badly) watching lots of British detective shows, and spending time with loved ones. My ever-growing family currently consists of my husband, my cat Finnigan, and my dog Mia. Taking this first step towards pursuing therapy is never an easy one. I honor that. My hope in building our therapeutic relationship is that you can just breathe and be.
