Whether you have felt depressed for as long as you can remember or a recent event has dealt a blow to your mood, we can address the source of your depression. I utilize psychodynamic theory and techniques, which respect the complexity of your life history, personality, & coping mechanisms. By getting to the root of what creates your depression, we can build new capacities for responding to life without despair.

Informed by psychoanalytic theory, I help clients come to understand what unconscious processes drive their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. If you find that you keep repeating the same unwanted behaviors or feel stuck in patterns of relating to yourself and others, this modality might be right for you!

You coped the best you could and laid down patterns of response deep within your brain- patterns that are hard to break. If you feel stuck in unwanted thoughts, feelings, or behaviors, this is the type of therapy for you!

Experiencing derealization and/or depersonalization can feel quite disturbing. By identifying how and why your mind is "taking a distance" from yourself or situations, we can begin to make sense of this mode of protection your brain has taken up. Finding alternative ways to manage your distress and practicing their use within our safe, therapeutic relationship will help decrease your experience of derealization and/or depersonalization.

Particularly helpful for those who grew up without many healthy, reliable relationships with others who helped them successfully manage their emotions, interpersonal therapy utilizes the relationship between therapist and client to open up relational possibilities, increase insight into the way you manage your thoughts and feelings, and increase the health of current relationships.
