About My Clients
I work to center the human, rather than the diagnosis. I have training and experience working with trauma of all types and degrees, people who use substances, and those who are unsure of how to move forward. I believe you already have everything you need to heal, and my role is to help you discover it. People of all colors, cultures, genders, national & ethnic origins, physical abilities, recovery status, relationship status, sexual orientations, and spiritual beliefs are welcome.
My Background and Approach
I earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Akron, and I am independently licensed in the State of Ohio as a Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervision accreditation. I have been practicing for more than 10 years and have integrated EMDR into treatment for more than 5 years. I have counseled adults and elders with a wide range of mental health diagnoses, including ADHD, Anxiety and Depression, Bipolar I & II, Borderline Personality Disorder, Gender Dysphoria, PTSD, Schizophrenia, & Substance Use Disorders of varied types & severity. I've received additional training in complex trauma, dissociation, Flash reprocessing, human trafficking, grief, & Motivational Interviewing, and seek out opportunities to strengthen cross-cultural appreciation & connection.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the inherent dignity and value of every person. I believe you already have everything you need to heal, and my role is to help you discover it. Your story matters. You matter. Prior to counseling, I worked for advocacy-focused non-profit agencies to remove barriers to healthcare and employment opportunities. Outside of sessions, I enjoy hiking, karaoke, kayaking, reading, and learning to speak Italian.
