My Background and Approach
Whether it's the big stuff you think of when you hear the word "trauma", or the more subtle kind, our old stuff keeps us recreating the same thing over and over again, which leaves us feeling trapped, frustrated, and can cause dis-ease. Bringing awareness and transformation to our patterns frees us up to be more available to ourselves and to our relationships. We are heirs of a culture of isolation and competition -- a system designed to make us forget about what is important in life. I've worked with folks in therapeutic settings since 2001, and have specialized in sexual trauma recovery since 2017. My view is that we already have within us the seeds of what we need in order to heal. I love using an eclectic approach of EMDR, Somatic Parts Work, Authentic Movement, and spirituality, and find some magic in their synergy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a white, middle-class, middle-age, cisgender, hetero-assumed, queer woman, who grew up rurally, low income in a conservative, religious, land-owning family. I am actively engaged in my own anti-oppression work, and part of this is bringing my whole, authentic self to our session (not the "neutral", "objective" poker face silent nods). Liberation is serious business, and often requires laughter. I am here with you, a helper-companion-collaborator on your journey. Remember: your healing benefits many. Thank you.
