About My Clients

My clients are special needs parents navigating the landscape of life with a special needs child. I help them to grieve the lives they thought they would have and to move forward to fully live the lives that they have. Others are kids and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, trauma, self-esteem/body image, and other mental health diagnoses and issues.

My Background and Approach

I began Shine Counseling Center after my own journey as a counselor and mother of 3. I am a National Certified Counselor who is passionate about providing personalized counseling services in a non-judgmental way. My approach is never cookie cutter! I tailor treatment to the client and when appropriate use music, art, and bibliotherapy (using books in counseling) to keep counseling impactful and interesting. I work with evidence-based approaches that science shows help people to feel better. I am a National Certified Counselor who is passionate about providing personalized counseling services in a non-judgmental way. Some of the techniques I use include CBT, DBT, trauma-informed therapy, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and client-centered therapy. I teach my clients coping skills and other skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. We will evaluate goals every 90 days to ensure progress and I am always open to feedback along the way.
