About My Clients
Clients I see are often plagued with beliefs of not being "good enough." Often times, through exploration of past events and attachments, we learn to deconstruct and redefine the origins of such beliefs. I feel by exploring our past experiences and being provided with non-judgemental acceptance, we learn to embrace the uniquely made being that we are. Our sessions will focus on unraveling shame and removing our masks to uncover our true selves.
My Background and Approach
I am a native Texan who has been licensed for 15 years. Most of my career has been focused on working with both neurotypical and neurodiverse adults and children who experienced childhood trauma, family violence, sexual violence/assault, difficulty with age-related changes, addictions, life transitions, stressors associated with care-giving, parenting, and lack of lifestyle acceptance or adequate supports. I received a Master of Science in Family Studies and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Amberton University in Garland, TX. I tend to work within a trauma-informed framework when seeing clients. I am certified in Trauma-Focused CBT, working toward certification in EMDR, and becoming a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My vision for our future is one where we live in an inclusive world. A world where one sees the adaptive strengths and unique perspectives that accompany neurodiversity rather than a peron with "special needs." I don't belive people exist in linear states nor do I believe standard definitions should be applied when identiying who we are.
