About My Clients
I work with children, teens, adults, and families—especially neurodivergent clients (ADHD, autism), mood disorders (depression, bipolar), OCD, PTSD/trauma, and gender-related distress. I help with co-parenting, vocational transitions, and legal/insurance stress. Expect collaborative assessment, measurable goals, evidence-based interventions (TF-CBT, DBT, ACT), culturally sensitive care, and improved daily functioning.
My Background and Approach
I’m Amy Cameron, LCSW — an experienced, trauma-focused, and culturally attuned clinician with specialized trauma training through Duke. I blend evidence-based approaches—TF-CBT, CPT, DBT-informed skills, ACT, exposure techniques, and play therapy—to support children, teens, adults, and families. I treat teen issues (and parent-teen work), relationship and marital concerns, self-esteem and body-image struggles, depression, anxiety, and neurodivergence (ADHD, autism). My practice is trauma-informed and culturally responsive: I tailor interventions to each client’s age, identity, and life context, set measurable goals, and prioritize practical skills that improve daily functioning and resilience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I meet people where they are — with curiosity, openness, and without judgment. I believe every person brings strengths, context, and reasons for their choices; therapy should honor that and move at a safe pace. I practice cultural humility: I listen first, ask respectful questions, and adapt language and interventions so they fit your values and life. I prioritize collaboration — we set clear, measurable goals together and choose practical steps that create change outside sessions. I'm trauma-informed and strengths-based: I balance stabilization with skill-building so trauma work is tolerable and useful. I blend evidence-based methods with flexibility; if something isn’t working, we try another way. I value transparency about treatment options, limits, and when referrals are needed. Progress looks different for everyone; my aim is to increase your choice, agency, and resilience. I welcome clients of all backgrounds; I offer respectful, steady clinical guidance to support your goals.
