About My Clients
The clients I serve best are those that feel themselves to be "out of the mainstream," whether it be due to sexual orientation, gender identity, spirituality or something else. You might be someone who wonders where you fit in or whether your life has a purpose. Or you might be someone that feels there are things in life you can't (or don't wish to) talk to your family or friends about, possibly because you continue to sort through your own feelings about these things.
My Background and Approach
I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective and have a Certificate in Adult Psychoanalysis. I aim to connect clients with their past experiences in a way that leads them to think more deeply about who they are and what they want. I'm also experienced in DBT and EMDR, which I use to support clients as they recover from trauma and as they set boundaries in their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I tend to spend my spare time pursuing the arts, whether it be singing classical music, playing jazz on the piano, or taking a dance class. A holistic approach to health is important to me. The mind/body connection fascinates me, and I work toward strengthening that connection for both myself and my clients. I believe that relationships are central to the process of change. I believe in strengthening my relationship with myself, as that is perhaps the most significant relationship any of us have, and supporting others to do the same. I believe that compassion for ourselves allows us to connect to the world more deeply and authentically. I live in a multi-pet household, and believe that time spent with animals is time well-spent!
