The problems that my clients face do not happen within a vacuum. Each one of my clients holds various identities -- race, gender, sexual orientation, religious, physical ability -- that contextualize and give shape to the experiences that they are having in the world. An intersectional, feminist approach to therapy takes into account the overlapping effects of each one of the identities that you hold as you move about the world.

My approach to treatment is mostly influenced by psychodynamic theory and a specific kind of psychodynamic theory in particular, Mentalization-based Treatment (MBT). Broadly, this means that we will work together to understand the current difficulties that you're experiencing in terms of internal, mental processes. By putting our minds together to better understand what's going on on the inside, you'll experience more flexibility and more agency in your life outside of therapy.

I make use of myself and share my thoughts and impressions in treatment, in an effort to make my own mind more plain and accessible. I invite clients to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences of me and our work together and consider these interactions to often be the most potent and meaningful route to making progress towards interpersonal goals.

That is to say, I see our relationship as a powerful tool for creating change in all of your relationships outside of therapy.

Some of my clients feel understood for the first time in their lives when they receive a personality disorder diagnosis. Others have strong negative feelings about it. No matter how you feel about it, the recurrent depression, feelings of emptiness, feeling outside of life, having a hard time building really satisfying relationships with others, and chaotic feeling that can come with BPD or NPD is painful. You deserve help that can ease your suffering and help you live a more satisfying life.

I specialize in working with folks who struggle with Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and compulsive eating, although I also work with people who struggle in many different ways in their relationship to food and body, including anorexia, bulimia, and ARFID. No matter where you are on the spectrum of disordered eating/eating disorder, you deserve to feel more at peace.
