About My Clients
I work with all ages from 3yrs old upward. As a play therapist, I am able to implement play techniques into processing and growth for all ages. I specialize in trauma, particularly religious trauma, as well as managing symptoms related to anxiety and depression. I also specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community in addition to providing trainings for other clinicians in working with our community. I provide person centered therapy and believe each client is the expert on their life.
My Background and Approach
I have 10 1/2 years experience working in community mental health before branching into my own private practice. I have a passion for providing support and a safe space for individuals within the LGBTQIA+ Community of all ages. I also have a passion for helping allies and family members of the LGBTQIA+ Community better understand what their loved one might be facing and how to better support them. Growing up in a very conservative religious home and attending both bible college and seminary, I have the unique perspective of understanding the impact religious trauma can have on individuals in our community. It is my desire to be a space of hope, comfort and safety for those I work with.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In addition to being a support to my clients, I also greatly enjoy teaching trainings to colleagues to help them better work with our community. I am a person who loves to learn and am often attending trainings to help myself grow into the best therapist I can be for those I work with. I believe there is great power in having others support and believe in you, and strive to create an affirming environment for all.
