About My Clients

I am passionate about helping folks navigate identity in a culture that doesn’t always create space for difference, pain, and vulnerability. I love helping people peel away society’s messages about who they "should" be and find out who they have truly been all along. I work primarily with tweens-young adults, helping professionals (I include parenthood here), and social work supervisees. I look forward to meeting you!

My Background and Approach

To borrow the words of Brene Brown, my goal in the therapy room is to “create a space… where all.. can walk in and, for that hour, take off the crushing weight of their armor, hang it on a rack, and open their hearts to truly being seen.” I am skilled at seeing the unrealized gifts in others and don’t often use “therapist speak”; I am intentional about offering my real, human self. My therapeutic style is participatory — I see myself as a co-creator with you in creating the kind of life you want for yourself and your family. I enjoy introducing creative modalities, including but not limited to art, writing, mindfulness, movement, nature, sensory interventions, sandtray, and play. I also enjoy incorporating neuroscience in the therapy room, making what we know about the brain accessible to you. You are the expert of your own experience and I want to share tools with you that can help you arrive at your chosen destination.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a bachelor’s degree in International Studies, have traveled extensively, lived overseas in Costa Rica, and befriended many whose cultures and lives look very different from my own. These experiences have equipped me to engage difference with experience, humility, and curiosity. My master’s in Social Work research focused on the intersection between neuroscience, trauma, and the healing power of nature. I also have a master’s of Divinity, where my research focused on the intersection between theology, pain, and healing. These educational experiences have taught me the power of diversity, nature, spirituality, and creativity in the healing process. I am excited to share them with you. Diversity is a gift. With a deep nod to the natural world, the presence of biodiversity teaches us that there is a needed role and purpose for variety, peculiarity, and otherness. In fact, the entire ecosystem is thrown off balance when diversity decreases. Be you. The world needs it.
