Dr. Amasa Smith specializes in treating OCD, anxiety, relationship issues, and college life stressors. He warmly welcomes individual adults and couples seeking to create positive change in their lives, offering a unique blend of insight-oriented and skills-based approaches in his therapy sessions.
My Background and Approach
Dr. Smith is a trained OCD specialist and an active member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). Dr. Smith’s therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and uses the evidence-based practices of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to treat OCD and other presenting client concerns. Dr. Smith additionally draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in couples' work and when addressing relationship concerns.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Dr. Smith is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment where clients can explore the thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships that may be hindering them from living a more fulfilling and rewarding life. His work is guided by a multicultural lens, the tenets of intersectionality, and the social justice principles of clinical social work.
