About My Clients
My clients have included people of all ages and backgrounds, and I have worked with them in a variety of settings. I currently serve individuals 18+ residing in DC (out of pocket) and LA (insurance accepted) via online counseling. I have been fortunate to help clients address a wide range of issues including stress and anxiety, depression, relational problems, self-esteem, and trauma. My clients ideally want to develop honest self-awareness in order to lead more authentic, happier lives.
My Background and Approach
Since 2014, I have been dedicated to empowering adults, children, and families with education and tools to not only manage obstacles to happiness but to thrive. I have worked in the community, in client's homes, at schools, in more traditional offices, and online. My unique and varied experiences have helped me to develop a holistic understanding of clients' lives. I have immense respect for my clients, and I always approach counseling with affirming warmth, without judgment, and with the goal of trying to understand each individual's unique reality. My primary approach tends to be Cognitive-Behavioral meaning that patterns of thoughts, emotions, and actions are explored in order to build understanding and, ultimately, to develop solutions. I do also maintain a conversational style and incorporate other counseling theories (narrative, attachment theory, person-centered, etc.). Our conversations will be tailored to suit you and our unique therapeutic relationship.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in affirmative and equitable care for all. I believe we all have the capacity to grow and live our lives with contentment. I have found that developing self-awareness, authenticity, courage, and empathy are some of the key factors in doing so. I am constantly striving for these things, and I love helping others to do the same. I say "striving" because I also believe it is essential to recognize that the human experience is incredibly complex and wide-ranging, so we are simply not going to feel "happy" all of the time-- and that is not a "bad" thing. It is my experience that actively practicing tolerance and coping skills for the tough stuff and more fully seeking and embracing opportunities for the joyful can lead to a more empowered and engaged experience in this wild world of ours. Feel free to reach out via email, call, or text to chat a little more about how I can help you.
