About My Clients
Are you experiencing pain that feels overwhelming? Do you have grief that is hard to express? Have you noticed your reactions are out of proportion to the situation? Do you have relationships that are challenging and difficult to navigate? I can support you in learning how to cope with pain, process grief, communicate assertively to strengthen relationships, and help you understand the past coming out in your reactions to respond more presently.
My Background and Approach
My style is predominantly relational and interpersonal and I draw heavily upon acceptance commitment therapy and self-compassion. I also incorporate CBT, DBT and consider the impact of trauma and attachment history. I’ve spent much of my career in intensive mental health treatment and I’m adept at group facilitation. After working with me, you’ll have a greater sense of meaning and purpose even related to hard and painful parts of your life - those experiences will be chapters rather than the defining theme of your story. I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals achieve their goals and feel content owning their whole story. I would love to help you do the same!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach to therapy: Narrative: Your life tells a story, and I can help you integrate the hard parts with the beautiful ones to create a cohesive whole that you feel proud of. Process: Healing is a journey that often takes longer than we’d like it to, but I will be here with you every step of the way, reminding you that it’s a process and of all the forward progress you’re making with each step Workability: The skills we use to cope with life and navigate relationships can become engrained, even when they no longer help us achieve what we want. I can help you objectively consider if your current skills are ‘working’ for you, and if not, other strategies to consider! Compassion: The antidote to pain and debilitating shame that comes from hard experiences is compassion, and I’ll equip you with practical skills to be more kind to your past and present self as well as others so that you feel comfortable showing up authentically.
