Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in Fort Myers, FL
Supervised by Bethaney Hoffacker, LMHC
As a masters-level intern, I am still finalizing my treatment orientations. However, Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a major interest of mine. DBT integrates mindfulness techniques with skills that really work! Together, we can look at different techniques that you can use both in and out of session to help you become the best you can be!
As a masters-level intern, I am still finalizing my treatment orientations. However, Person-Centered (Rogerian) counseling is a major interest of mine. Rogerian counseling puts the power in the you, the client. It allows you to direct the sessions, and together we follow your road map. I believe 110% in unconditional positive regard, which is a major focus of my sessions -- it's a judgement-free zone, and we go at your pace!
As a masters-level intern, I am still finalizing my treatment orientations. However, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a major interest of mine. SFBT pushes you to look at events that have impacted you in different lights, and instead of focusing on what went wrong, together we'll look at what has gone right since that moment. We'll look at how we can change your mindset to help you focus more on the positive, while giving value to the not-so-positive events.
As a masters-level intern, I am still finalizing my treatment orientations. However, Feminist Therapy is a major interest of mine. The way it not only looks at simply women, but also men and society as a whole in treatment is incredibly fascinating and also relevant to today's climate. I focus more in intersectional/fourth-wave feminism in my studies and treatment.
Self-esteem is a major area in which I have experience in working with. It's a topic that I believe is not discussed enough in regards to mental health. I believe that self-esteem is something that begins at birth and develops throughout a person's entire life, and counseling is a major source of support when it comes to improving your self-esteem! I have training in solution-focused techniques, and together we can begin improving your self-esteem.
In regards to women's issues, I have a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, with a minor in Crime, Law, and Deviance. Within that minor, I focused mainly on dealing with issues that both cisgender and transgender/gnc/nb women go through in regards to surviving abusive situations throughout their lives. I also have experience working with women's issues in regards specific issues that affect LGBTQ+ women.
As an intern, life transitions is a major area that both my education and supervisor have educated me in. I have experience and knowledge in working in areas such as school transitions, moving transitions, relationship transitions, additions and losses in families, and even transitions in regards to friendships and the bond between people and their pets. I also have experience in working with those who are or have gone through gender and sexuality transitions.
