About My Clients
My goal is to assist my clients in learning healthy coping skills to manage their symptoms but to also explore the root cause of them in an effort to reduce them. We’ll take a look at how unresolved issues of our past can leak into our present functioning and work together to identify patterns of behavior and make effective change.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and hold a post-graduate certification in Object Relations Psychotherapy from the International Psychotherapy Institute. I worked in an outpatient rehabilitation program for six years working with individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. I currently serve as a local youth council’s Program Director, providing youth and families with the necessary tools for social-emotional growth, healthy attachments and prosocial behaviors. In order to best assist you, I need to first understand you as the unique person you are. I use an eclectic approach to tailor therapy to each individual’s identified needs by combining mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) approaches. I believe our defenses are in place during times of trauma and stress for a reason, however they can also stop us from personal growth which is what I hope to help you with.
