About My Clients

Whether you are a teenager, young adult, middle-aged, or seasoned, I'd love to work with you! I connect well with individuals who want to heal from traumatic experiences in life. I'm passionate about helping individuals heal from toxic or unhealthy relationships. If you have endured racism or racial trauma, I create a safe space for you to be seen and heard and no longer hide the most important parts of who you are. I primarily specialize in depression, PTSD, and compassion fatigue.

My Background and Approach

Over the last 12 years, I have been developing the skills and collecting the information with which I will teach and empower you. But first, I begin by actively listening to your pain and challenges, along with what you're hoping to gain from the counseling process. I ask thought-provoking questions and help you gain insights and perspective into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I practice from a holistic perspective, which means that I ask you questions to seek understanding about what's happening in your body, spirit, soul, and relationships. Any one area can greatly impact the others. I am passionate about using a blend of psychological and spiritual principles and interventions to address the whole person. I tend to use a more non-directive approach in order to empower you to draw your own conclusions and take ownership of your own healing. I'm a life-long learner and I see my clients as my best teachers. While I'm confident in my craft, I value continuing to grow.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have found that including prayer and meditation in my practice has increased the healing potential for my clients. While I have spent much time reading and studying in this field, as well as walking alongside people who are hurting, at the end of the day, I am a human being actively making sense of life, just like you. Being able to look to God and explore a broader perspective keeps us grounded in the process. I'm not forceful with this approach; I simply offer it to the degree it is desired. I want sessions to be a safe place for anyone to explore their values and beliefs. I'm also passionate about providing a safe and culturally-informed space for people from all different cultures. I operate from the perspective of cultural humility, which is an approach that is self-reflective and collaborative. I desire to create a space where all clients can explore cultural trauma and find a respite from it.
