Techniques used to help you find motivation internally for positive behavior change

I have experience providing in person and virtual EMDR sessions to a variety of populations since 2015. I have worked with military personnel, childhood trauma, and specific incidents in adulthood. EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory, and is intended to change the way that the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing and eliminating the problematic. People often confuse anxiety and stress. I provide counseling that focuses on gaining tools and techniques to combat stress, understand the state of anxiety, and move forward feeling empowered and capable. Under anxiety we also talk about topics related to: boundary setting, communication, emotional regulation, grief/loss, survival and trauma responses, negative self talk, and autonomy.

I work with clients who need to rebuild trust in relationships, inner child work, codependency and realizing they are capable of taking care of themselves without relying solely on others to bring a sense of purpose.

This is a difficult topic to summarize since many people downplay their experiences through comparing to what television portrays as PTSD. I've worked with trauma clients from childhood abuse, sexual assault, witnessing trauma, and survivor's guilt.
