About My Clients
I work best with clients who want to make lasting changes in their lives. Together we find hope and strength to develop skills that enable my clients to find a sense of wellness in their lives. As a telehealth provider who accepts most insurances, my clients live in any of the following states: AL, AZ, AK, CO, CNMI, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, ND, NY, OH, OK, PN, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY.
My Background and Approach
I have conducted individual, family, and group therapy and assessments with adults, adolescents, and children across many settings including private practices, veteran’s hospitals, training-clinics, in- and out-patient psychiatric hospitals, schools, jails, and prisons. In addition, I have published several book chapters and articles examining the influence of emotions on a person’s thoughts and behaviors. After many years in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia, I returned home to Chicago where I served as the Director of a young adult and adult partial hospitalization program and of a university training clinic. In my heart, though, I missed working directly with clients who inspire me daily. Now, drawing upon over 20 years of experience in clinical, research, teaching and administrative roles, I am thrilled to be providing effective therapy to clients with a wide range of concerns and problems.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy consists of hope and courage. I have wanted to be a psychologist since I was seven years old and every time I meet with a client I am reminded of the resiliency and strength of the human spirit. My goal as a psychologist is to work collaboratively with my clients to help them strengthen, develop and learn skills that increase feelings of happiness and fulfillment in their lives. Together we explore relevant current, developmental, and environmental factors in order to identify areas where change is and is not possible. Learning to accept what we cannot change will allow us to productively focus on what we can change and for you to learn new skills so you can begin a new phase of your life, happier, calmer and wiser. Life is a journey and sometimes we need help navigating through difficult times; I am here to help you to find the courage and hope to navigate life successfully.
