About My Clients

Do you notice that you worry more about what others think of you than what you think of you? Maybe you look around the room and compare yourself to others. Are you always "watching your weight" or trying a new diet? At first you felt like you were controlling the food, but now it seems like the food is controlling you. It's all you can think about. I've been treating people with various levels of eating disorders for almost 20 years. You and I can work together to get your life back.

My Background and Approach

Working in the field of eating disorders in treatment facilities and in private practice has given me a keen understanding of what recovery takes, and what recovery looks like. I've helped many people rid their lives of all types of eating disorder behaviors and thinking. I use a trauma-informed psychodynamic and somatic approach to therapy. We learn how your mind and body interact to create problems with body image and disordered eating. Each person has a unique journey and I am here to assist you in finding the keys to what started the problem and how to heal yourself. I work from a Health At Every Size and Intuitive Eating framework. I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the State of CA and I'm trained in EMDR. I earned a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University, and a Bachelors Degree in Education from University of Wisconsin, Madison.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My own experience in therapy has taught me that we are a product of our environment and our genetics. Just as some physical illnesses run in families, mental illnesses do as well. But issues with mental health do not develop without some kind of precipitating event or events. Even so, no matter what has happened to someone, they have the power to heal. Our bodies and minds are self healing. We need help sometimes, and it can take strength and courage to reach out for the help you may need. I admire people who allow themselves to be open to this type of help. The whole world benefits from people understanding each other. Society is filled with external stressors, and the more we learn to successfully navigate our own stressors, the better we can be at connecting with others.
