About My Clients
I specialize in working with children, teens, and young adults. I apply the creative process and counseling techniques to address a range of goals, including increasing self-esteem and healthy body image, processing trauma, and coping with anxiety & depression. As an art therapist and licensed counselor, my goal is to provide a safe and accepting space to explore emotions through the creative process.
My Background and Approach
We often use both art therapy and counseling approaches to address what you need while you are here - which means that sometimes we make art to explore a thought, emotion, or experience, or sometimes we may spend a session focusing on verbally processing and unpacking what is on your mind. As a registered art therapist, I have completed training in the use of art materials for connecting to, expressing, and processing emotions in a safe, supportive environment. I have worked in various therapy settings, including outpatient and intensive outpatient programs, hospitals and residential facilities providing art therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and substance use concerns. Art therapy is suitable for all ages, and no prior art experience is needed! It does not matter what the art looks like - it matters what it means to you. My goal is to create a judgment-free space where you can feel supported in creating what you need.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the creative process can promote expression of emotions that may sometimes be difficult to describe in words, and that art can help us dive deeper into what we are feeling. I believe that a supportive, nonjudgmental, and creative approach to therapy can be the most healing, and can help you gain personal insight to create the changes you hope to see in your life and reach your personal goals.
