About My Clients

I best serve individuals who feel lost. Based on the experiences of others and myself, I have come to learn that life is an on-going process of Lost and Found. There are times we know exactly who we are and what we want out of life. Then, either gradually or suddenly, the life we built is no longer serving our needs and change is necessary. I specialize in helping people who have lost themselves in a relationship or a substance, or those questioning their gender identity and/or sexuality.

My Background and Approach

As a trauma-informed Narrative therapist, my intention in the counseling room is to help clients discover how, when, and where their stories were created, and offer support in identifying and making desired changes. I promote a creative and engaging approach, often utilizing metaphor, storytelling, experiential exercises, skill-building, and Harm reduction for addressing concerns with alcohol, drugs, and/or sexual health. I routinely seek out consultation and training to improve the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to effectively serve the communities I am passionate about: the LGBTQ+ community; individuals who are Polyamorous or practice non-monogamy; members of the Kink and BDSM communities; and people living with HIV and/or other chronic illness.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

On Culture: I believe it’s not just important but necessary to broach cultural similarities and differences with my client, as the many facets of identity impact how we show up and experience the world. For example, I recognize that being a white, queer, cis-female millennial influences the therapeutic alliances I create and services I offer. On Scheduling: I believe that therapy is an investment in the self. Building trust and safety with a new therapist takes time and energy. Therefore, I strongly encourage and expect new clients to schedule weekly appointments for at least the first couple months. On Advocacy: I believe my role is to be both counselor and advocate. Coming from non-profit healthcare, I am committed to helping my clients reduce barriers to quality mental health and substance use care, as well as connect with additional supportive resources.

I have experience with the following
  • Agnosticism
  • Atheism
  • Christianity
  • Jehovah's Witnesses
