About My Clients

What if I can't handle Polyamory or Non-Monogamy? Am I Queer enough? Where do I even begin to explore my Kinks or Power-Exchange dynamics? Am I really Addicted?... I offer a safe and supportive space for my clients to address these questions, as well as explore other concerns regarding their identity, relationships, needs, and coping skills. The overarching goal of our work will be to help you live more authentically, honestly, and with greater confidence.

My Background and Approach

As a Narrative therapist, my intention in the counseling room is to help clients discover how, when, and where their stories were created, and offer support in identifying and making desired changes. I consider myself an active and collaborative clinician, and am unafraid to be vulnerable with you. My counseling approach is creative and engaging, and will often incorporate metaphor, storytelling, experiential exercises, skill-building, and an emphasis on Harm Reduction for addressing concerns with substances and sexual health. I also offer EMDR to strengthen trauma healing. I routinely seek out consultation and training to improve the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to effectively serve the communities I am passionate about: the LGBTQ+ community; individuals who are Polyamorous or practice non-monogamy; members of the Kink and BDSM communities; and people who use substances.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

On Culture: I believe it’s not just important but necessary to broach cultural similarities and differences with my client, as the many facets of identity impact how we show up and experience the world. For example, I recognize that being a white, queer, cis-female millennial influences the therapeutic alliances I create and services I offer. On Scheduling: I believe that therapy is an investment in the self. Building trust and safety with a new therapist takes time and energy. Therefore, I strongly encourage and expect new clients to schedule weekly appointments for at least the first couple months. On Advocacy: I believe my role is to be both counselor and advocate. Coming from non-profit healthcare, I am committed to helping my clients reduce barriers to quality mental health and substance use care, as well as connect with additional supportive resources.
