About My Clients

My clients typically are at a place in life where what they have been trying is no longer working. Maybe the to-do list is never ending, or you struggle to stay focused to accomplish your goal. You might be struggling with anxiety, managing stress, family dynamics or moving on from a past relationship. Therapy can help. I've also found that the clients I tend to work best with are willing to try new skills, engage with their friends or supports and try to be open to the therapeutic process.

My Background and Approach

I have found that my skillset is often best suited for adults who are motivated to change how they respond to life by exploring their core beliefs, emotions, and thoughts that are keeping them stuck. My goal is to empower adults to better understand themselves and feel more confident in living as their authentic self. My clinical background is grounded in creating a welcoming space for individuals of all backgrounds to come and be met by a compassionate therapist right where they are. I have advanced knowledge in supporting adults who have experienced trauma throughout their lives and those who have symptoms of, or a diagnosis of ADHD. I am EMDR trained (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy), and operate from a solution focused, person in environment perspective. I also have training in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe we all have a unique perspective on life, due in part to what we have experienced. By understanding what we have experienced, and how this has affected us, we can then learn new ways of coping and living to have a fuller and more intentional life. I also think with increased awareness of ourselves, we can have more empathy and grace for ourselves, leading to living a more grace filled life. I personally practice the Christian faith and am open to incorporating faith of any kind into my client's work if they request it. I believe faith can be a resource and positive support. I also understand and have worked with clients where the opposite has been true and faith has been a source of harm or trauma. I believe it's important for your therapist to be comfortable holding space for both, so whatever your experience with faith, I'm here to help you process it if needed.
