About My Clients
I work with STEM professionals around topics of navigating conflicting expectations, impostor syndrome, burnout, and work-life balance. We explore themes of navigating high pressure environments, communication, managing conflicting expectations, difficult workplace dynamics, and past experiences that disrupt day-to-day life. I also have extensive experience with managing chronic illness alongside family and career demands, highly sensitive people, and various forms of neurodivergence.
My Background and Approach
I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Graduate School in Pasadena. My training took place in college counseling centers (UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton, Caltech, and Cal Poly Pomona) as a practicum trainee, intern, postdoctoral resident, and staff psychologist. It is here that I found my passion for high-achievers and STEM-oriented students. In 2014, I began my private practice where I have been working with individuals in early to mid stages of STEM careers ever since. I am the author of The Empowered Highly Sensitive Person and The Self-Care Plan for the Highly Sensitive Person. I am licensed in and accept clients from California (PSY26549), Connecticut (3633), (Oregon (3985), Texas (LP40433), Washington (PY61606784), and Virginia (0810007185). When I am not doing clinical work, I volunteer with APA's Disability Mentorship Program, speak and educate on psychology, and write. In my downtime, I like to connect with the arts, be in nature, and go for walks.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In making effective change, we need to understand both the broader contexts that we are navigating, as well as the individual contributions we bring to a given situation or relationship. Compassionate inquiry and non-judgmental awareness allow us to see ourself and our contexts more clearly, giving us an opportunity to be mindful in how and why we make change. My purpose is not to set goals for you, but to help you uncover the goals you have for yourself and find the path forward that works best for you. I place a high value on diversity and exploring the multiple identities individuals navigate across various contexts.
