About My Clients
Are you constantly thinking about what you could've done better in the past, or how to create a future that pleases your family, mentors, friends, and yourself? Maybe you lie awake at night distracting yourself with music, a podcast, or a video game so to not allow your brain to think. A little anxiety is totally normal but when it starts to overtake your thoughts and fog up your head at school and work, it's time to call and get some support. My Background and Approach
I am uniquely qualified to walk through this challenging time with you. I have worked with teens and young adults for over 20 years in the performing arts, as a high school teacher, a school counselor, and an advisor for college students. My goal for you is to have self-knowledge. Personal, academic, social, and relational self-knowledge. I want to help you discover your strengths and feel empowered to use them. Together, we will explore some ways to manage anxiety and pressure. We will explore how to recognize stress and emotion in your body and learn to employ positive coping strategies to help you get through the days or nights. Don’t worry, there is no class in school that covers social and emotional skills. You didn’t miss anything. Helping you develop and practice these skills is my job!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that children are our future...but, for real. They actually are. Working with young people is my favorite because they are so creative, hopeful, and curious. When I was younger I always wished that my superpower was invisibility. I was quiet, kinda lost, and not very confident. I want to be there for the young people that feel like that. I want young people to have confidence in who they are, their thoughts, and their strong/healthy physical bodies. I am passionate about teaching social emotional skills to young and old(er) alike. I am passionate about education #nerd. As a former World History/Psychology teacher, my love of learning runs deep. If going to school was a job, I would definitely do that. This makes small talk almost impossible for me! I will continue to work for access to education for underrepresented populations and encourage EVERY child to go to college, vocational school, whatever is right for them. Let's learn and grow together.
