About My Clients
My clients are people that come to counseling struggling to hold it together, feel tired, overwhelmed, defeated, and sometimes just wish it would all be over. The people I work with have lost their sense of self along the way due to substance use, feeling stuck in unhealthy relationships, low self-esteem. I help people see that old patterns can be broken by learning new skills. When healing and change happens you can learn to navigate the journey of life with more intention, confidence & hope.
My Background and Approach
I became a therapist because I believe in the healing power of relationships and that change is possible for everyone. For over 10 years I have been a licensed therapist helping people that are afraid to tell their story, fear being judged, are scared to say they wish they didn't have to live this life. I can help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings behaviors; learn strategies to address symptoms of anxiety, depression, dysregulated emotions, address issues related to substance use, relationships, and trauma. My style is to be solution focused. I am here to help you redirect your energy and focus on identify the change you are seeking, create goals and teach you new skills and techniques to manage life. I will support you as you make changes, and I will help you get unstuck when you stop. I have an extensive experience treating substance use and support all paths to recovery, including harm-reduction, faith, abstinence, 12-steps, SMART Recovery, and MAT.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that early life experiences & previous choices can have a tremendous impact on the choices people are making now and how they are living. I know that some people go to bed wishing tomorrow could be differnt, some people are moving through life, just exisiting in a fog. I am prepared to meet people in that darkness, walk with them, and shine the light so they can see a way forward. I am passionate about suicide prevention, supporting people both in active addiction, and people that found freedom from active addiction and are still struggling with shame, guilt, obsessive, compulsive thinking, and risk-taking behaviors. I am a Christian woman who finds that my faith has given me love, joy, peace, patience, kindness. This guides me in my work and gives me the strength to consistently hold hope for everyone I work with. It is important that people know that coming to counseling takes bravery and I feel privileged and honored to be a part of people’s journey.
