About My Clients
I specialize in trauma/PTSD, anxiety, panic, depression, stress management, self- esteem, family of origin issues, building conflict resolution and communication skills, and life transitions. I am especially passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ population (identity exploration, coming out later in life, etc), supporting college students and young professionals, working with fellow helping professionals, and untangling spiritual or sexual shame—especially the purity culture variety.
My Background and Approach
I come with 16 years of experience in the mental health field, including facilitating group therapy as well as intensive outpatient programing. As a certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist, I incorporate body awareness in my work with clients to help better understand the physical and psychological echoes of difficult experiences. I don’t believe that one size fits all when it comes to modalities; in addition to sensorimotor, I integrate an eclectic mix of approaches. I value humor, authenticity, and a strong belief in our natural capacity to heal (because humans are surprisingly resilient, even when it doesn’t feel like it). My approach is relational and client centered. Together, we’ll explore the patterns, behaviors, and thoughts that are no longer serving you well.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have an inclusive, affirming, trauma-informed, anti-racist practice. I celebrate all identities and bodies. I am committed to inclusive values and continue to work toward understanding my own privileges, biases, and the impacts of systemic discrimination and oppression. I strive to provide a safe, sacred space for everyone who trusts me with their care. While I take my work with you very seriously, I am not the stoic, silent, nodding type. I am a real person who uses proven, effective methods to provide a space that’s authentic, collaborative, and occasionally even enjoyable. When I am not in the office I am a proud dog mom to a stubborn Boxer and a hearing impaired Boston Terrier. I am an avid hiker, mountain biker, and owner of an ever growing collection of houseplants.
