About My Clients

While I enjoy working with all kinds of clients, I specialize in working with Latinx young adults between the ages of 18-35 & who are exploring therapy to work on life transitions, trauma, family/cultural dynamics/intergenerational trauma that may be unique to Latinx folks, relationship issues & anxiety. These clients have a desire to work on self-awareness, self-compassion, & boundary setting. We explore all of these topics during our time together in order to lead to your growth & healing.

My Background and Approach

I utilize a strength based, skill building approach with some humor mixed in. I enjoy working from a somatic based approach and incorporate breathing/mindfulness practices including some yoga to increase self and body awareness (we can talk about this more if it is a new concept for you!). I have witnessed individuals get to know themselves and find coping strategies that work for them to improve their way of living and learn to manage their anxiety and other issues that are causing them stress. I have been trained in treating trauma through Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Based Approaches. I will collaborate with you to find the treatment that works best for you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In my years as a therapist, I have observed that individuals hold the answers they're seeking for within them & can discover them by having a compassionate therapist providing guidance and support. I believe that many of the issues that bring us stress, anxiety/other mental health issues is due to unhelpful learned behaviors that often originated in childhood. I believe that we have the ability to heal from the experiences that were hurtful/harmful to us, but that in order to do so, we have to learn how to be kind to ourselves and we have to learn to process these experiences in a way that is helpful/unique to you, & this is why I offer various ways of treating mental health concerns. I believe that everyone has strengths and good in them, & that we can pull these out through having compassion for ourselves. I view people from a strength perspective. I believe in the importance of identifying emotional/mental & generational patterns that impact how we feel about ourselves and life.
