Talk therapy is great, but children connect in their world of play. With this approach, children can learn to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment and parents can develop new ways to connect and relate to their children.
Relationships are wonderful, but also have their fair share of challenges. This is an opportunity for you and your partner to strengthen your relationship and have a safe space to engage the hard conversations while moving toward healing and restoration.
Families are amazing, but are also intricate and challenging at times. Engaging in family therapy will allow for you and your family to work through the frustrating obstacles and discover healthy ways to engage and interact.
As a foster parent myself, I know first-hand that foster and kinship parents can often feel isolated in their role. This caregiver role is different than any other and I believe that support and resources are extremely important to feel seen, known, and heard. My goal is to provide hope and reassurance that you are not alone.
Gaining perspective can be challenging when you are feeling stuck in old patterns and ways of maintaining relationships. Taking some time to start unpacking these unhealthy patterns and work with your partner and/or family to start creating new healthy patterns will open up doors for new and exciting ways to interact and enjoy time with one another.
I am certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, which is an evidence-based therapy for children ages 2-7. As caregivers, you desire to have a close, loving, and fun relationship with your child. When this is not the case, time with your child can feel frustrating, overwhelming, and exhausting. With PCIT, you can learn some fun ways to play with your little one and some healthy and effective ways to increase compliance.
