About My Clients
Deciding to begin therapy takes courage and a willingness to look at one's inner self. I find that clients who are genuinely motivated to change their emotional life have the most successful outcomes. Effort is required! My clients are adults that struggle with mood related issues like anxiety or depression, relationship issues and life changes. Or just feeling stuck!
My Background and Approach
My approach is draws mainly from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. This evidence based therapy is focused on how our core beliefs dictate how we feel. If our beliefs and attitudes are rigid and not aligned with our goals, we can feel unhealthy emotions which in turn, lead us to act in ways that keep us from moving in the direction we want in life. I work with clients to discover and modify unhelpful beliefs and thinking patterns to develop a healthy and flexible outlook on life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that change is possible at any age or stage in one's life. I have found that we all can walk around with habitual ways of thinking that work in opposition to what we truly want or good for us. These ways of being are relics from when we were young or when they possibly worked for us, but now that exist as sort of automatic or unconscious thoughts that govern how we feel and the choices we make. Countless times I have seen clients completely see life differently once aware of how they are truly thinking. This is why I chose REBT as the therapy I use most. It is imbued with optimism that transformational change is in your hands.
