The decision to participate in psychotherapy or obtain a psychological assessment can bring up mixed emotions, just as with other important and impactful life decisions and events. Exciting and perhaps a bit scary at the same time. As a therapist I hope to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable discussing your thoughts and concerns. For me, it is important that we work collaboratively to help you achieve better mental health and overall well-being.
My Background and Approach
Allison specializes in psychological testing and assessments, which provide diagnostic clarity and offer insight into what is at the root of mental health symptoms. Psychological assessment can help guide treatment recommendations within medication management or a therapy setting. They can give insight into such areas as cognitive abilities, symptoms, and aspects of personality. For students, often times a picture of an individual's functioning in these areas may open doors for academic accommodations to help the student succeed academically. Allison enjoys working with all ages of adults within individual therapy. Allison’s approach to providing therapeutic services is based on the unique needs of each individual. Making sure therapy is collaborative and growth oriented is important to Allison. Therefore, she utilizes an integrative approach to treatment, with emphasis on person-centered and cognitive behavioral strategies.
