About My Clients
I treat individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma. Furthermore, I specialize in treating those who have experienced spiritual abuse, and religious trauma. The nuances and degrees of hurt are different for each person, and your story is valid and important. I want to help you navigate the questions or insecurities you have, so that you can build self-acceptance and find how to engage in your story without fear or shame.
My Background and Approach
I want to hold space for you, coming alongside you as you process through whatever degree of trauma you have experienced. No topics are off limits and I am an affirming LGBTQ+ ally. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been a therapist for 7+ years, working with adults suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, and spiritual abuse and religious trauma. I have a Bachelors of Social Work from Bethel College in North Newton, KS and a Masters of Social Work from Texas State University. My therapeutic approach is strengths-based and person-centered and I believe that everyone deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and a chance to make positive life changes. I value evidence based therapeutic approaches, and draw upon those as appropriate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I deeply value the therapeutic relationship and meet every individual where they are at, with genuine care and interest. Often coming to therapy is a big step and can create anxiety, I recognize this and will take the pace that is comfortable for you and will gently nudge in the right direction as needed. I collaborate with each individual and work to create a meaningful relationship. I believe in the healing power of relationships and feel privileged to share in the lives of my clients. I have previously been involved in faith communities where many values held did not sit right within me. I’ve personally experienced hurtful encounters with individuals who used their power and position to shame and silence, and have lost community because I didn’t choose their belief system any longer. I experienced the transformative power of being in relationship and community with people who do what they say they will do. Finding just one connection to someone who you can trust is invaluable.
