About My Clients
I work with individuals and couples. I enjoy working most with adult clients of any age. I help my individual clients work through past trauma, manage symptoms of depression and anxiety better and build self confidence so that they can feel happier and have better relationships. With couples, I help them communicate positively about difficult things. Through better communication, trust and intimacy are built.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed therapist and have been in private practice for 7 years. I specialize in treating social anxiety and depression. My approach begins with helping clients learn skills to manage distress and create routines that promote emotional well being. Then, I help them challenge themselves to participate in social situations and pursue other challenges that help build confidence. I will also work with them to heal past trauma that is holding them back in their present life. To accomplish these things I use psycho education on coping skills, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to identify and change negative thoughts and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to target past trauma. I want my clients to get the most out of their sessions with me. This means that I prioritize what matters most to them. I also try to give clients something to take with them that week. This might be a coping skill to try, an insight to reflect on, or trying a new approach to something.
