About My Clients
You want to talk about your loss but no one seems to get it. You've heard all the cliches, "they're in a better place," "everything happens for a reason," and even the inconceivable like "time to move on." But what about your pain? Emotions like anger and irritability? Your loss of normalcy, motivation, or your identity? You want to be seen, heard and understood, but don't know how to express that to others. I work primarily with adults, and assist in processing all aspects of grief.
My Background and Approach
I have my masters in mental health counseling, and years of training and experience to help assist you in processing and coping to find a sense of healing, growth and connection. Grief is a process worth tending to with intentionality, and my goal is to meet you where you are at. The process of grief therapy starts with getting to know one another, and providing you with the safe space to process your grief experiences, emotions, and the realities of all that you are going through. We will talk candidly and collaboratively; I keep therapy as fluid and conversational as possible. I have been known to use both empathy and gentle understanding as well as sarcasm and humor when appropriate. The work is aimed at helping with the integration of your grief and loss into your life moving forward. We will discuss coping strategies, boundary setting, "facts and figures" about grief and how it relates to you and what you're going through.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Grief is a unique and individual experience that is important to honor. I’m a firm believer that a little help goes a long way when coping with life’s challenges, and grief can feel overwhelming and all-encompassing. Grief is not just an experience limited to death-loss, but any kind of loss or significant change can prompt grief, and all grief is deserving of support. I feel that it is important that individuals have a safe space to share their story and to be heard. Everyone is deserving of quality grief counseling support. The rapport between you and a counselor can be everything to feeling safe and to experience true growth and healing in the therapeutic process. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your journey.
