About My Clients

You're a mother in the thick of it—pregnant, newly postpartum, or somewhere in the long unfolding of matrescence. Maybe you're carrying postpartum depression or anxiety, recovering from a hard birth, grieving a pregnancy loss, or feeling the weight of raising children in an uncertain world. You don't need to arrive with the right words. You're looking for a space where every part of your experience is welcome, and where someone understands the particular tenderness of early motherhood.

My Background and Approach

I'm Allison Davis, a licensed professional counselor with a PhD and over a decade of clinical and research experience in maternal mental health. I work exclusively with mothers across Texas and Colorado through secure telehealth, so specialized perinatal care is available wherever you are. I specialize in postpartum depression and anxiety, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), birth trauma, pregnancy after loss, and grief. As an EMDR-trained clinician, I help mothers process traumatic birth and loss experiences and move toward genuine healing rather than just coping. My approach is warm, grounded, and evidence-based, drawing on attachment, trauma-informed care, and nature-based practices. I also bring a climate-aware lens to my work, making room for the ecodistress and ecoanxiety many parents carry while raising children today. Whatever brings you in, my aim is for therapy to feel like a place you can exhale and be met with depth and care.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe motherhood is a profound developmental passage, not a problem to be fixed. My work is rooted in the conviction that mothers deserve care as fierce and attentive as the care they give. I'm especially drawn to the connection between our inner lives and the living world, and I hold space for the grief and love that come with raising children in a time of ecological change. Outside of clinical work, I'm a researcher, educator, and printmaker living in northern New Mexico, where the high desert landscape shapes how I think about belonging, resilience, and rootedness.
