About My Clients
I provide individual therapy for adolescents (12+) and adults using evidence-based modalities, including CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based therapies, psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused approaches. I specialize in treating anxiety and compulsive/addictive behaviors, and in helping patients navigate life transitions, stress, and relationship concerns. My practice is queer-affirming, sex-positive, and aligned with Health at Every Size principles.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Georgia, and I am also licensed (via PSYPACT) to see patients virtually in over 40 other states and jurisdictions. My primary task as your psychologist is to foster a supportive, collaborative environment where we are able to identify and work towards meaningful goals. I utilize a broad array of strategies and therapeutic methods that are tailored to your particular presenting concerns, with an emphasis on individual differences, cultural humility, and inclusiveness. I focus first on listening, and I acknowledge that you are the expert of your own life and experience. Together, we will collaborate to identify what is causing or perpetuating your distress and come up with strategies to improve your quality of life and help you thrive. Deciding to try therapy is a leap of faith, both in your therapist and also in yourself and your ability to improve your life. Thank you for letting me join you on this journey!
My Values as a Therapist
I believe that everyone is capable of growth and change. While I bring clinical training and expertise to our work together, I view you as the expert on your own life and lived experience. Therapy does not require a diagnosis to be meaningful or effective. While problem-focused approaches can be helpful, they can also be limiting, and I strive to create space for deeper exploration and growth. You also do not need to arrive with a fully formed agenda for each session. Structure can be useful, but so can spontaneity, and I trust that together we will identify what needs attention in the moment. I value humor as a powerful and healing tool in therapy, while remaining attentive to when it may serve as a way to avoid difficult emotions. I also believe in the importance of human connection, compassion, and dignity, and I approach my work from a stance that healthcare is a human right and that all people deserve safety, respect, and belonging.
