About My Clients

I specialize in LGBTQIA, kinky, poly/CNM and allied adults and adolescents of intersecting racial, cultural, religious and socioeconomic realities. I have particular experience working with trans/non-binary folks and people exploring their gender identity and/or expression. As a white anti-racist therapist, I create a healing space for exploration of whiteness/privilege and help BIPOC clients around current and intergenerational racial trauma.

My Background and Approach

My practice is a space for individuals of all intersecting identities seeking affirmative psychodynamic psychotherapy to handle a vast array of challenges. Each person is the expert of their own experience shaped by specific social realities. My role is not to tell you how to lead your life, but to establish a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship to guide you towards deeper understanding of yourself, explore what life can be like, and help you feel safe and seen. Our work will aim to support insight and self-reflection, connect your past to your experience of your internal world, expand your recognition of options, allow you to make changes to improve your life and cope with emotional challenges. Before private practice, I was a therapist and clinical coordinator at a CBO in NYC serving LGBTQ+ young people for 9 years. I have trained other providers around LGBTQ+ issues, sat on expert panels, and co-authored a chapter for a group work handbook specific to LGBTQ+ youth.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

From a young age, I found it important to step up as an active accomplice (even if I didn't have that language at the time) to people of less privileged identities than me. I have worked hard to be conscious of the ways that my identities have afforded me privileges that I have not earned but benefit from above others and commit myself to a lifelong journey towards anti-racism. I feel that it is just as much my responsibility to stand up for historically oppressed communities as it is to know when to step back and reserve space for more marginalized voices than mine. I make it a point to participate in marches and activities that support the LGBTQ+ community, show up as an active voice for black trans women, and challenge white folks around their biases and assumptions. I also believe that humor and silliness are essential for a therapeutic relationship (I can hardly help it) and have an extremely adorable French Bulldog who shows up in virtual sessions every once in a while.
