About My Clients
I believe that people seek out counseling because they feel that they are lacking guidance and are struggling to make sense of the problems or issues they are experiencing. In other words, they feel “stuck”. They are searching for a way to change, move forward or process their own thoughts and feelings related to whatever is causing their problem. Each person has the option to take charge of their own narrative and change their current problems or circumstances or create a new life all together.
My Background and Approach
I have earned a Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and offer Telehealth Counseling Services through my growing private practice. I believe that problems will continue to occur in a cyclical pattern until they are interrupted. I am able to help interrupt negative cyclical patterns and create positive changes with my clients by understanding their entire life history and experiences so that a clear and comprehensive picture of each client can be developed and utilized. I believe that understanding a client's lived experience is one of the most important factors associated with establishing therapeutic rapport and a client's success in counseling. By establishing a strong relationship built on trust and mutual understanding, I am able to help my clients be open and honest about their problems and move forward. I believe in providing clients with the tools necessary for them to manage and navigate their lives independently after the counseling relationship has ended.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone in life is functioning to the best of their ability and has the intention of doing well even if these intentions may appear misguided or misunderstood. I believe that people don't go into the world with the intention of doing badly or causing harm; we go into the world only armed with the tools and methods that we have learned throughout our life to deal with and manage situations that we encounter. Just because someone has maladaptive ways of dealing with things, that doesn't mean that they have to continue on that path. I believe that someone is capable of changing and creating a new path and learning new tools to help them do so at any point in their life. There is always time and a chance for change.
