About My Clients
The foundation of my approach is client-centered, believing that through therapeutic rapport and collaboration change is possible. This foundation has allowed me to draw from many disciplines including CBT, mindfulness, and skill building areas, such as communication and boundary setting to decision making skills. Since becoming a Kripalu Certified Yoga Teacher, I became open to the real possibility that yoga and breath work help manage moods, sleep disturbance, stress and reactivity.
My Background and Approach
I have been working in the behavioral health field since 1989 and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the State of New Jersey, as well as National Board Certified Counselor. I have had direct experience in virtually every continuum of behavioral health services, including inpatient, crisis, outpatient, partial care, supported employment, mental health intensive outpatient and comprehensive school based programs. In addition, I have experience in both clinical and supervisory roles and continue to work with diverse populations.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that life is a journey and has we forge ahead we are the authors of our own unique life script . However, much of what we learned in the formative years of childhood and adolescents, patterns of behavior, values and beliefs etc., we may come to realize that these no longer serve us well and in fact may never have served us well. The therapeutic relationship creates opportunity to to explore how this script is contributing to your emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well being. Counseling becomes an opportunity to navigate change(s) and improve the quality of your life.
