About My Clients
Are you tormented by intrusive thoughts, doubts, anxiety, or an unrelenting need for perfection? Highly sensitive and prone to overthinking? Maybe you've tried talk therapy before but haven't gained the tools to help manage your symptoms? Together, we'll navigate your anxiety and develop strategies to respond differently to your thoughts, allowing you to get back in the driver's seat of your life.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychologist in NY with specialized training in the treatment of OCD, OCD-related disorders, anxiety disorders and pregnancy and postpartum issues. I gained expertise with these issues through my graduate training, internship, & 2 year postdoctoral fellowship. I am passionate about my work because it allows me to help people feel better and live lives not limited by their fears. It is so rewarding to see patients begin doing the things they could never have imagined doing before treatment! My approach draws from a variety of evidence-based therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and is tailored to the specific needs and goals of my patients. Although I primarily work from a skills-based perspective, I also incorporate exploratory approaches to help deepen my client’s understanding of themselves and their relationship patterns.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is my belief that life is inherently filled with pain, but that with the right tools, individuals can still create a fulfilling and worthwhile existence. With a willingness to open up to experiences and to learn and adapt, all humans can choose to build a life worth living, even in the face of difficult challenges. I am passionate about mental health awareness, psychoeducation and reducing stigma. Many people have distorted ideas about what mental health really means, believing that they are meant to be "happy" all the time, leading them to use unhealthy strategies to try to rid themselves of perfectly natural emotions. I love helping people learn to make space for all types of emotional experiences and find that this is paradoxically the first step to feeling better.
