About My Clients
Many of my clients come to therapy because they feel stuck in their relationships, whether that is with others or within themselves. Trauma, family influences, oppressive power structures, and cultural/societal messaging can all influence how stuck you feel. My goal is to help strengthen your relationship with yourself and with your partner(s) by understanding your unique challenges, validating your experiences, and celebrating your inherent strengths.
My Background and Approach
My clinical practice is most informed by attachment theory, intersectionality, and an anti-oppression lens. I aim to support you in developing the tools to experience your emotions and move through hardships in the present while also gaining insight and power over your past. I may also use creative approaches (ex., art, music, writing) to aid in self-expression or when it is challenging to vocalize emotions or experiences. Some of my specialty areas are working through attachment wounds, strengthening communication and sexual intimacy, navigating interracial and intercultural relationships, opening up or structuring poly relationships, and exploring racial, sexual, and gender identity. I received my Masters from Thomas Jefferson University, specializing in Sex Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a proud Black, queer, femme woman and believe it is essential to hold space for systemically marginalized and minoritized populations. My practice is strengths-based and built on trusting yourself and your intuition since we often get messages from oppressive structures to deny our experiences and feelings, and not trust ourselves. I believe you are the expert on your own life and will honor that in our work together.
