Navigating family relationships can be difficult in the best of times. When facing mental health challenges these relationships often get more challenging. I have had significant experience in helping people navigate the here and now of their relationships along with gaining understanding of how the past is currently impacting them. My training emphasized a psychodynamic approach to therapy which gives me specific skills to help people better understand themself and their relationships.

I provided therapy to those living in a domestic violence shelter for 3 years and have helped many people navigate different stages of healing and finding safety both in abusive relationships and once leaving the relationships. I take a non-judgemental approach and never pressure people to leave unhealthy or abusive relationships. I prioritize safety, your right to make your own choices and have a true understanding of the emotional complexity in navigating through abuse of all types.

I bring a calming presence to the therapeutic space which is especially helpful to those struggling with anxiety. Throughout my recent work, I have learned from those who utilize cognitive behavioral therapy approaches which is very effective for combating anxiety. I can offer real world skills and help you master them. What makes me different from CBT therapists is my background in psychodynamic therapy which allows me to help clients gain better understanding of the root cause of anxiety.

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on how unconscious thoughts, past relationships, and childhood experiences shape your current behavior. By uncovering hidden emotional blueprints and defense mechanisms, you gain the insight needed to break automatic, unhealthy patterns. Why it works: Talking physically rewires the brain (neuroplasticity) and shifts activity from the emotional alarm system to the logical mind. This transforms blind reactions into conscious choices within a safe space.
