When I am unable to work with a family or have any impact on the family unit, my focus becomes the individual's ability to gain insight into their current functioning abilities. Focusing on their current experiences, encouraging reflection into their self and into their body response to situations, allows for awareness of the things we can control, ourselves. Through this insight, we are able to also identify strengths and resources that can assist with controlling our responses to situations.

Most of my training has been focused on understanding and working with families. My grad program had a particular focus on understanding the different family-systems based approaches, including Satir, Bowenian, and Structural. I believe the family system has the most significant impact on our ability to overcome mental health issues and creates the opportunity for long-term success.

Your little one has changed. They are distant, angry, and tearful all at once. Their behaviors are not okay, even out of control. Adolescents can struggle with emotions in ways adults can't comprehend. As the parent, you want to fix it. But you can't. My desire is to bridge the gap between you and your child. My hope is you enjoy seeing your teen, and they want to be close with you. I focus on building connections, increasing communication, and finding unique problem solving solutions.

Confusing and upsetting events can leave us feeling alone and helpless. We struggle with focusing, our thoughts run away with us, our relationships are all over the place, and we feel stuck. Like we can't change it. There is hope. Therapy allows you to find ways of coping with trauma, whether recent or distant, and moving through life more intentionally. My hope is that you develop an awareness and relationship with yourself that can launch you into a new way of experiencing life.

Intimate relationships are challenging. They can leave us feeling alone when we want to feel comforted, feeling empty when we desire fulfillment. So many unmet needs, unrecognized wants, can make the relationship feel lost. We just can't keep going like this. Therapy can help couples to connect in ways they hadn't before. In sessions, we explore the barriers keeping you from relating with each other. My focus with couples is on strengthening communication, reducing hurt, and increasing intimacy.
