I work with individuals using cognitive behavioral therapy to help them shift their thoughts, feelings and behaviors so that the can get control of their anxiety. Feelings of anxiety are normal and offer us a beautiful opportunity to learn more about our needs, desires and orientation to the world. I offer my clients who experience anxiety an opportunity to further explore patterns of behaviors, needs, and a myriad of ways to manage, cope and analyze our behaviors.

Therapy for depression is individualized based on your circumstances. There may be grief or past trauma that contributes to your low mood that we work through in therapy. Current stressors might have pushed you past your limits, & we will work to get you back on track. Some common areas addressed in therapy for depression are dealing with negative thoughts, learning new ways to interact with your emotions, exploring coping patterns, & trying out new ways of interacting with yourself & others.

I can approach therapy from a Christian perspective if desired. You will not hear "Just pray it away" or "Your faith just isn't strong enough" from me. Whatever your mental health looks like, it is not a moral failure or a failure in faith.

CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. CBT places an emphasis on helping individuals learn to be their own therapists. Through exercises in the session as well as “homework” exercises outside of sessions, patients/clients are helped to develop coping skills, whereby they can learn to change their own thinking, problematic emotions, and behavior.

I believe in each persons individual and unique way of experiencing their lives. By creating a space for independence, promoting their dignity and respecting their values, my clients feels supported and understood. They are validated in who they are and the decisions they make in life.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) concentrates on finding solutions in the present time and exploring one’s hope for the future to find quicker resolution of one’s problems. This method takes the approach that you know what you need to do to improve your own life and, with the appropriate coaching and questioning, are capable of finding the best solutions.
