About My Clients
I enjoy working with clients across throughout various life stages and have a specific interest in working with client who have experienced trauma. Therapy can be an exciting and intimidating experience to walk into. Not only is it a place to feel challenged and vulnerable, it can also be a place to feel safe enough for healing to occur. There are countless possibilities when individuals come into therapy open to the overall process and make way for radical acceptance.
My Background and Approach
I spent a number of years doing community based work with kids, adolescents, adults, and families. It is this background that lead of my introduction to attachment theory and the beginning of my trauma work. Following my years as a community based clinician I was a Military Family and Life Counselor working with children and adolescents on Buckley Space Force Base. I provided brief solution focused interventions to military children and families affiliated with base. I've had the privilege of working with very diverse clients in the past and am looking forward to increasing my knowledge in order to better serve my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy is the one relationship you get to knowingly enter into where it is allowed to be all about you and I strive to not only create that environment but validate that need for people. The beginning of therapy with all new clients begins with rapport. My goal is not to be the stoic soundboard in the corner. I believe in authentic and genuine connection within the therapeutic relationship. I utilize active listening, unconditional positive regard, and self-disclosure (this is not always appropriate but when used at the right time it can highly benefit the therapeutic relationship) to foster trust. It is my desire for individual to know and understand that I am a human who is able to empathize and support you throughout the journey of self-exploration.
