About My Clients
Do you feel like your past experiences are negatively affecting your present? Or often think you are "not good enough"? Many of the clients I work with have experienced trauma at some point in their lives. We can work together to process past experiences, improve your confidence, develop coping skills, increase feelings of peace, and create more space for what is most meaningful to you.
My Background and Approach
I am fully licensed as a mental health counselor in North Carolina, Illinois, and Florida. Over the last 9 years I have worked with adults in various settings. I approach counseling from a trauma-informed lens, focusing on life experiences and how they impact our emotions, thought processes, and behaviors. I highlight my client’s strengths and inner resources and we utilize and build on them in the course of treatment. My clients have described me as a gentle and calming presence, perceptive, and a compassionate listener. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Ego State Interventions, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We are all valuable and deserving of care and respect. Many of my clients have had experiences that have taught them negative beliefs about themselves. It is meaningful to me to help clients emotionally process their past painful experiences, challenge negative beliefs they may hold about themselves, and recognize their worth. It is possible to develop self-compassion and find relief.
