About My Clients
I specialize in supporting people impacted cancer (I see patients and loved ones). My clients need space to process their grief, losses, and focus on living as well as possible in the midst of this unexpected and life-impacting oncology experience. Many of my clients have side effects from chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery and want to reflect on how to live in the midst of health challenges. Centering Therapy MN offers a specialized emotional space for support.
My Background and Approach
Alisa has over 15 years of experience providing supportive counseling to adults, adolescents/young adults (AYA), and children. Prior to opening and operating Centering Therapy MN, Alisa was a clinical social worker in a pediatric hematology / oncology program. Alisa’s specialty focus for over a decade had been providing clinical guidance to people impacted by cancer and blood disorders. Alisa has helped hundreds of families cope with the impact of an unexpected, complex health care journey. Alisa’s clinical work is rooted in the principals of Narrative Therapy (a form of therapy that works to separate an individual from the problem and honors the individual’s expertise), equity, trauma, and grief informed care. Alisa uses a strengths-based approach that is culturally sensitive and have a specialized experience in supporting journeys of grief.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people have innate worth (you don't need to earn your worth!). I believe that all people deserve support. Health care journeys deserve emotional support. You will have space to reflect on your lifetime (what it means to live well in the midst of physical challenges).
